IAAF Kids Athletics Lecturers Programme

New Delhi – 29 July 2013

The two-day seminar and workshop for state coordinators under IAAF Kids Athletics programme was concluded here on 28th July.

The ambitious “KIDS ATHLETICS” programme of IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) was earlier inaugurated in India by Mr C.K. Valson, Secretary, Athletics Federation of India on Saturday (27 July).
 

The speakers include AFI Vice-President Mr Ravinder Chaudhary, Executive Director Mr A.K. Kesri and Expert Mr Sanjay Chauhan among others.



The Seminar was keenly attended by the following representatives who also attended the practical session on the Athletics ground with practical aspects of “Kids Athletics”.

Sebastian (Chhatisgarh), Dr. Sanjay Chauhan (Delhi), Narender Mor (Haryana), Suresh Kanwar (Himachal Pradesh), Sanjesh Mohan Thakur (Jharkhand), M. Ramachandran (Kerala), L. Ajit Singh (Manipur), Finely L. Pariot (Meghalaya), B.B. Mohanty (Odisha), B.L. Sharma (Rajasthan), Dr. K. Vijaya (Tamil Nadu), R.D. Joshi (Maharashtra), Amit Gautam (Madhya Pradesh), Sanjay Tiwari (Uttar Pradesh) and Rudra Pratim Roy (West Bengal).



Athletics Federation of India was planning to send one set of Sample of “Kids’ Athletics Kits” for conducting similar course in each state to implement the programme.  However the state coordinators assembled at Delhi for the seminar/workshop were so excited and eager to implement the programme in their state at the earliest.  Hence most of them take the burden of carrying the sample implement with them which was packed in a carton of 36 Cubic feet!



The State Coordinators will fix-up date for conducting the course in their respective states for Instructors and will implement this programme in minimum 10 institutions in their state to begin with.

The two-day seminar and workshop for state coordinators under IAAF Kids Athletics programme have commenced here on Saturday.  

The ambitious KIDS ATHLETICS” programme of IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federation) was started in India in Delhi with a “Seminar / Workshop” of State Coordinators. The State Coordinators of twenty (20) States participated in the Seminar, which was inaugurated by Shri C. K. Valson, the Secretary of Athletics Federation of India.

The Seminar started with opening Remarks by Shri. Ravinder Chaudhry, who briefly described the purpose & objective of the “Kids Athletics”. Shri Chaudhry emphasised that in this programme, the children of 7 to 12 years of age are involved, hence it needs adequate planning to implement by the Districts / States.

Lot of scientific and psychological research has been made and then only IAAF implemented this programme which is being organised in more than 121 countries.

In India AFI has taken a lead and now  started to implement “Kids Athletics”  through its State Associations at  grass root level. The States will own the responsibility in phased manner to incorporate this new and attractive project of IAAF.

Mr. A. K. Kesari, the E.D. of AFI who has been made responsible to coordinate the issue of implementing the project in India, gave a detailed idea of the programme to all the delegates.

Mr. Chauhan, a expert in implementing the “Kids Athletics” took the first session of the Seminar / Workshop in which he gave the full description of the programme and described the minutest details of programme of Kids Athletics. He mainly narrated the objects, how to implement and intricacies of the implementation of the programme.

The Seminar was keenly attended by the representatives and they also attended the practical session on the Athletics ground with practical aspects of “Kids Athletics”
