History of NID-JAM

An initiative of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), NID-JAM was launched in 2003, with the aim to create an ecosystem which would identify, nurture and provide a national platform to thousands of promising athletes emerging from hundreds of districts in the nook and corner of the country.

The aim of the NID is to boost athletics at the district level and provide exposure to the raw talent directly at the National level. Interestingly, the District Athletics Associations are free from any financial liability for this meet as the AFI bears the total cost of boarding, lodging and travel expense of all the participants.

Till date, the AFI has conducted 13successful editions of the NID Junior Athletics Championship, benefitting more than 50,000 district champions and budding athletes in the country. A strong junior nurturing programme like the NID is aimed at producing Olympics and Asian champions of future for India.
