India’s top Race Walker Manish Singh Rawat clocked his best timing of 2017 and finished fifth at the IAAF Men’s 20km Walkers Challenge (Grand-Prix) 2017 in Taicang, China on Saturday.

Manish finished fifth overall and first among Asian athletes in the hot and humid conditions in Taicang by clocking 1h 23min 58 sec.  Brazil’s CaioOliveria (1:22:16) grabbed the first place while Mexico’s Julio Cesar Salazar (1:22:58) finished second and LebogangShange (1:23:45) of South Africa ended on third position.

Alexander Artsybashev, Head Coach of Indian Walkers Team from Russia, said, “I am very pleased with Manish’s performance. It is his best timing in 2017. Conditions were not easy in Taicang and it was hot, close to 32 degree Celsius. The best thing is that he finished ahead of all other Asian athletes.”
