Men’s 5000m race record at 18th Federation Cup National Senior Athletics Championships Two time Asian Championships finalist Bronze medal in Marathon South Asian Games 2016 Bronze Medal in Mumbai Marathon 2016
Alongwith Rawat and Gopi, he became the third runner to qualify from the Mumbai marathon. He placed among the Indians but the time he clocked 2:17:23 hrs which was well within the qualifying mark. A year ago in the Vasai-Virar marathon was nearly five minutes behind what he had clocked in Mumbai. Kheta attributed the improvement to the hard training particularly in Udhagamandalam under the Coach Surinder Singh Bhandari. Two years ago it was with a meet record in the 5000mts at the Federation Cup event held in Patiala that Kheta qualified for the Incheon Asiad. At the SAF Games early this year, Kheta picked the bronze in marathon. He had clocked 2:21:14 hrs . Kheta's coach felt he would be better of concentrating on longer distance and initially he shifted to half-marathon and then two years later decided on marathon with an eye on participating in the Mumbai Marathon. Thus opened his dream of a Rio berth. An army man he mostly trains at the Army Sports Institute, Pune.
