Shot Put

The Railway shot putter qualified for Rio Olympics after her record-shattering throw in the National Open last year in Kolkata. Her 17.96 mt effort not only brought her the gold medal, a hat trick of titles in the National Open but the joy of being in the Olympics.

Touching the 19m mark is her aim since she had improved her thrown by one and half metre in a year. In practice sessions she had touched 18.60, according to her. The fact remains the top three at the London Olympics had all gone past 20 m. Manpreet started off as a sprinter but reaching no where, she switched to shot put in her quest for the right sport.

She has made the world record in the shotput with 18.86m throw and bagged gold medal in the First leg of Asian Grand Prix 2017. She has also bagged silver medals in the second and third legs of Asian Grand Prix 2017 respectively.
