Athletes from Services team walked away with overall team title, while Gujarat’s distance runner Sunil Joliya Jinabhai won the men’s 3000m steeplechase gold with National Games record on the final day of track and field events here at the Bambolim Athletics Stadium on Friday of the 37th National Games.

Jinabhai clocked 8:37.15 seconds to erase the 2022 National Games record of 8:43.05 seconds set by Shankar Lal Swami of Haryana.  Mohd Noor Hasan of Services also improved the previous record but settled for silver. He clocked 8:38.77.

The Services team collected as many as 117 points to walk away with the overall trophy, while Tamil Nadu with 114.5 points finished second. Haryana with 104 points was third.

The Service men’s team also topped the table chart with 117 points. Tamil Nadu finished second with 58 points, while Madhya Pradesh was third with 38 points.

The women’s overall title went to Haryana with 72 points. Andhra Pradesh was second with 55 points. Tamil Nadu was third with 49.5 points.

400m hurdles: Vithya Ramraj (Tamil Nadu) 56.88 seconds, Veerpal Kaur (Punjab) 58.96 seconds, Nanhi (Haryana) 59.02 seconds.

3000m steeplechase: Preeti Lamba (Haryana) 10:19.78 seconds, Komal Jagadale (Maharashtra) 10:21.66 seconds, Bhagyashree (Gujarat) 10:30.79 seconds.

Mixed 4x400m relay: Tamil Nadu 3:21.26 seconds, Kerala 3:21.54 seconds, Maharashtra 3:23.20 seconds.
