Nov 23, Visakhapatnam: The 15th edition of the National Junior Inter-district athletics championships will be held in Visakhapatnam for the second consecutive time. 14th edition was successfully held at the same venue in 2016.
It is the only event for athletics in India where districts participate directly at a national level competition, giving exposure to more athletes. In the 15th edition around 4400 kids from about 400 districts are participating in two different age categories of U-14 and U-16.
In Boy’s U_14 category, athletes will showcase prowess in Long Jump, 600m race, High Jump, Shot Put and 100m race. In girls U_14 category, athletes will compete in Long Jump, 600m race, High Jump, Shot Put and 100m race. In Boys’ U_16 category, boys will compete in Shot Put, Javelin throw, 100m, Long Jump, 400m, 1000m, Discus Throw, 100m Hurdles, 200m and High Jump. In Girls’ U_16 category, boys will compete in Shot Put, Javelin throw, 100m, Long Jump, 400m, 1000m, Discus Throw, 100m Hurdles, 200m and High Jump.
The event will kick start on the 24th November with the first event 600m heats for G_14 at 10 AM at Port Trust Diamond Jubilee Stadium, Visakhapatnam and conclude on 26th November with its last event 200m finals for G_16 at 3:30 PM.
