Feb 2, Tehran: Day 2 of 8th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships witnessed two of our Indian Athletes in action in men’s shot put event.
Tajinder Pal Shing Toor the 22nd Asian Athletics Championships’ Silver medallist (19.77m) was in the medal contention along with the Gold medallist(19.80) Ali Samari of Iran, the host nation. It was the same result as Tajinder recorded a throw of 19.18m to clinch the Silver and Ali Samari of Iran fetched the Gold with a 19.42m throw. Wu Zhiqiang of China took the Bronze for the 18.81m throw.
Tajinder’s throw of 19.18m is an improvement from his season ending throw of 18.86m in Open National Athletics Championships, where he won the championship. Another thrower Om Prakash Singh Karhana recorded a throw of 18.02 to finish in the seventh place.
India’s medal tally stands at 3 ( 2 Silver, 1 Bronze ).
