A sensational 3000 runners brave scorching temperatures in Delhi

A slightly earlier start due to the ‘red code’ weather warning in Delhi didn’t deter the 3000 regular and first time runners gathering at the Cariappa Parade Ground to first warm up with yoga and zumba before heading off for their #FirstMile.

The Territorial Army showed up in force after the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) suggested this event would be a good curtain raiser for the Territorial Army & Athletics Federation of India Run (TAAFI RUN) which is the official national marathon of India.  General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff completed the run and received his participation Certificate from AFI President, Adille J Sumariwalla.

Commenting at the end of the event, AFI President Adille J Sumariwalla said:  ” The participants did an excellent job in spite of the heat and red code warning. We did start a little early to help the runners and the Army gave us full support – both as participants and organisers. I would like to thank the thousands that turned up and ran today, many ran their very first mile today. They were incredible. They didn’t care about the heat, they just came to run and participate in the mile run. I am very proud of them all.
