AFI acknowledges Volker Herrmann’s contribution in educating coaches as HPD

New Delhi, November 22: Athletics Federation of India today acknowledged Volker Herrmann’s contribution as High Performance Director in educating Indian coaches since July 2019 and said it respected his decision to move on.

AFI President Adille J. Sumariwalla said AFI would like to thank Volker Herrmann for his contribution towards education of the coaches. “Volker is young and hardworking professional. He dedicatedly contributed a lot in our coaches’ education program. We tried to convince him to stay and work with AFI, however, it is his personal decision to go back to his country (Germany) and we respect his decision. He has expressed his wish to continue with us a consultant in future and we will definitely work with him as and when required. We wish him the very best in all his endeavors ahead,” he said.

“We are now looking forward to appoint two new High Performance Directors, one for senior athletes and one for juniors and youth,” said AFI President.

In a post on Facebook on Saturday, Volker Herrmann announced the news of his resignation.
