India’s Damneet Singh wins Silver at IAAF U18 World Championships

14 July 2017, AFI Media : Indian youngster Damneet Singh won India’s first medal, a silver, at the IAAF World U18 Championships being held in Nairobi, Kenya with an effort of 74.20m in the boys’ hammer throw on Friday.

Damneet achieved his personal best mark of 74.20m in his first attempt and was a medal contender throughout the event. Ukraine’s Mykhaylo Kokhan won the gold medal with a throw of 82.31m while Raphael Winekelvoss settled for bronze with a 71.78m effort.

Damneet Singh qualified for the worlds with a 70.29m throw at the 2nd Asian Youth Athletics Championship held in Bangkok in May 2017.
