Promising Youngsters set for action in Junior Federation Cup

Lucknow, 9th June, 2017: It’s the Indian Junior’s turn for action after their senior’s at the P.A.C Athletics stadium here in Lucknow during the 15th Federation Cup National Junior Athletics Championships which will kick-off on Saturday morning.

The championships will showcase the young budding talents in various categories and about more than 800 athletes from around the country have registered for the prestigious athletics event organized by Athletics Federation of India (AFI) every year.

Top athletes will be in action during the three-day meet in Lucknow. Among them, Akshay Nain who won the bronze medal in 400m and gold medal in Medley relay at the recently concluded 2nd Asian youth Athletics championships in Bangkok is participating in the Men’s 100m and 200m events.

West Bengal’s Lili Das who bagged a fine victory with gold medal in the women’s 800m and 1500m at the 17th Asian junior athletics championship at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on June 2016 is also among the participants list. She became the best female athlete of the 14th Federation cup championships in 2016.

While Delhi’s Amoj Jacob who defeated Rio Olympian Jinson Johnson of Kerala in 800m distance with a time of 1:50.54 seconds 6 days ago in Senior Federation Cup is also testing his potential in Boy’s 800m event. He also won the men’s 800m gold at the 17th Asian junior athletics championship at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on June 2016.

Rajashree, Daneshwari A.T, Sonu Kumar and Poonam Sonune were some of the other notable participants in the 3-days championships. P.A.C Athletics stadium is ready to exhibit the talents of promising young athletes from tomorrow at Lucknow.
